ECCLESIASTES Christ the Meaning Beyond Vanity

Key Scriptures: Ecclesiastes 1:2; Colossians 3:1-4

Ecclesiastes examines life “under the sun.” Achievement, wealth, pleasure, work, status, knowledge, and human accomplishment are tested as possible sources of ultimate meaning. The conclusion is sobering: everything becomes vanity when treated as life's final purpose. This does not mean work, success, relationships, or pleasure are evil. It means created things cannot carry the weight of eternal meaning. Ecclesiastes creates hunger for something beyond the limits of earthly life. Christ answers that longing. In Him, human existence is connected to eternity. Work gains purpose because it can serve God's kingdom. Relationships gain purpose because they can reflect God's nature. Resources gain purpose because they can become instruments of stewardship. Life stops revolving around temporary accomplishment and begins participating in an eternal purpose. Christ does not remove us from the world. He restores meaning within it.

Sonship Application: Mature sons enjoy God's gifts without turning those gifts into gods. Identity remains anchored in the Father rather than achievement.
