PSALMS Christ the King, Shepherd, and Son

Psalms gives language to nearly every dimension of human relationship with God. Joy. Fear. Worship. Grief. Victory. Repentance. Hope. Longing. Yet within these songs and prayers appears a remarkable portrait of Christ. He is the Anointed Son of Psalm 2, the Shepherd of Psalm 23, the rejected and suffering One reflected in Psalm 22, and the exalted Lord seated at God's right hand in Psalm 110. The Psalms reveal both His suffering and His kingship. This is important because Christ does not rule from emotional distance. The King who governs us is also the Shepherd who understands weakness and suffering. Psalms also teaches sons how to bring the inner life before God. David does not hide emotion. He processes it in relationship with God. Worship becomes formation. Prayer becomes alignment. Praise restores perspective. The Psalms show that mature spirituality does not suppress the heart. It brings the heart into the presence of God until emotion becomes aligned with truth.

Sonship Application: Mature sons learn both worship and government. They allow the Shepherd-King to bring the inner life under His care and authority.
