Daniel lived faithfully inside an empire that did not share his covenant identity. Babylon changed names, education, language, culture, and expectations, yet Daniel learned to function within the system without allowing the system to redefine him. This makes Daniel particularly important for believers living within complex cultures. His visions reveal kingdoms rising and falling. Human empires appear powerful, yet all of them remain temporary. Then Daniel sees “One like the Son of Man” receiving everlasting dominion. Jesus repeatedly applies this title to Himself. Christ is the Son of Man whose kingdom cannot be replaced by another empire. Daniel therefore gives perspective. Earthly systems matter, but none are ultimate. Political power is temporary. Cultural influence is temporary. Economic strength is temporary. The kingdom of Christ endures. Because of this, sons can live faithfully within changing environments without fearfully surrendering their identity.
