Deuteronomy is a book of remembrance. A new generation stands at the edge of inheritance. Before entering the land, Moses rehearses the covenant, commandments, history, failures, and faithfulness of God. Why repeat what had already been spoken? Because inheritance requires memory. A generation that forgets God's Word will eventually forget its identity. Jesus demonstrated the power of Deuteronomy during His wilderness temptation. Each response to Satan came from this book. He lived as the obedient Son where Israel had failed as God's covenant son. “Man shall not live by bread alone” reveals that life is sustained by more than physical provision. Life flows from every word proceeding from God. Christ becomes the Covenant Word embodied. Deuteronomy teaches that obedience is not merely legal compliance. It is the response of a people whose identity has been established through relationship. The Father speaks because He desires sons capable of carrying His nature into their inheritance.
