GENESIS Christ the Beginning and the Seed

Genesis begins with origins, but its deepest revelation concerns purpose. Humanity is created in God's image and likeness. From the beginning, the Father's intention is representation. Humanity was created to reflect God's nature and exercise stewardship within creation. Sin interrupted that purpose, but it did not cancel it. Immediately after the fall, Scripture introduces the promise of a Seed who would ultimately crush the serpent. From that moment forward, Genesis follows the movement of the promised Seed. Abraham receives the promise. Isaac carries it. Jacob continues it. Judah receives the royal dimension of it. Joseph prophetically demonstrates the pattern of the beloved son who is rejected, humbled, exalted, and then becomes the means of preserving many lives. The New Testament reveals Christ as the fulfillment of these patterns. Jesus is called the image of the invisible God. Where Adam failed, Christ succeeded. He becomes the Last Adam and the beginning of a restored humanity. Genesis therefore begins a story that ultimately concerns sons being restored to the Father's image. Christ is both the promised Seed and the perfect Son.
